Bio
The day I was hired to teach in Highland Park, MI two remarkable things happened. One: a tornado hit the city. Two: I got my wisdom teeth out. So I guess you could say it was a disaster from the start, and I didn’t have a clue what was coming next… The book JUMP FREE was inspired by the students I taught.
The first chapter won the Innermoonlit Award 2009. It also won second prize in Writer's Block contest and was a finalist in the SCBWI-MI mentorship competition. Short stories featuring the main characters in JUMP FREE have appeared in www.straitjacketsmagazine.com., Decameron Magazine, and one short story will be published in the anthology Woman's Work: The Short Stories due out in 2010. Also, I write a monthly column for www.empowernewsmag.com.
I live in Detroit, MI with my husband and daughter. There I like to swim and eat ice cream, but not at the same time.
