Bio
Laura Ellen writes contemporary thrillers and mysteries for young adults. She loves the intrigue of the unknown, the draw of the mystery, the suggestion of a conspiracy. She likes the idea of things being there that we cannot see, and how this always makes us think we know what’s going on, when we really don’t.
Although she lives in Ann Arbor, Michigan with her husband, three kids and a dog, Laura was born and raised in Fairbanks, Alaska. She doesn’t miss the winters, but she definitely misses the small town, out-in-the-middle-of-nowhere feeling of growing up in Alaska — which is why Alaska always seems to creep into her novels in one way or another.
Laura Ellen has a M.A. in Children’s Literature and is a former Language Arts teacher for middle and high school students. She writes full-time from her home, but never passes up an opportunity to teach children about the craft of writing.
Laura Ellen’s debut novel, Blind Spot, will be released in the Fall of 2012 by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. To learn more, visit her website: www.lauraellenbooks.com. You can also find her on Facebook and Twitter, and she is a regular contributor to Sleuths, Spies, and Alibis — a blog for authors, kids, and teachers about writing mysteries.
