PICTURE BOOKS: Ronnie particularly interested in author/illustrator picture books works. I am taking on very few authors who do not illustrate or illustrators who do not write. Please send me a Word Doc. of the entire manuscript with small jpegs of art samples for the manuscript and/or a PDF of a sketch dummy of the book and color samples. Send your submissions to firstname.lastname@example.org
MIDDLE GRADE: I am only interested in highly illustrated middle grade books--series or not. Please send me the first 10 pages with art. Send submissions to email@example.com
Katia Herman, Agent: I graduated from NYU, where I created my own major in painting and writing. I now have 2 sons and 2 stepsons, ages 12, 10, 9 and 3, so I am a very busy mom in a home with 5 males! Middle grade books are not only something I enjoy reading, but a genre I read to my boys aloud and feel connected to because I live with so many kids who read and love what they read.
For myself, I wrote and illustrated my first "book", You Get Some Good and You Get Some Bad, when I was eight years old. Throughout high school (I went to Fieldston in NYC) I wrote endless poems and found solace in characters in literature from Anna in Anna Karenina to Holden Caulfield in Catcher in The Rye.
As I got older I loved the complex voice of Nabokov and got through my teenage and young adult years with the help of Sharon Olds, Adrienne Rich and T.S. Eliot. These are years I still hold close to me, and it is no wonder I find myself now an agent for YA and middle grade books. I love these genres!
I also run my own high-end flower design business, and in my few moments of spare time I practice yoga, run, box, paddleboard, cook and draw.
SUBMISSIONS for Katia:
MIDDLE GRADE and YA: I am looking for wonderful new voices for these genres. I am not particularly interested in time travel, sci-fi or fantasy unless you are doing something new and fresh. Please send me the first 20 pages as a Word Doc. to firstname.lastname@example.org
